The record books and bank statements go back to October of 1987, but Marcella Garner and other community women were helping the children of our community long before that.  Starting at Marcie's kitchen table, then operating out of the VFW for several years, People Helping People moved to "The Barn" on Hampton Street in '87.  Marcie's dream was for no child to go hungry, sick, or without gifts to open at Christmas.

PHP was incorporated in 1997 and got its 501(c)3 in 2000.  It is run by a Board of Directors.  Our current location was opened in May of 2005, and was built largely with donated materials and labor.  Located at 210 N Pine Ave. in Republic, our building is named Marcie's Place in homage of the founder.  Marcella's  motto was "It's all about the children,"  and we still honor that motto today.
